Johnson is a well-known and respected commentator for several popular sports talk radio shows in Europe, including @ChrisC_ESPN and @JoeyCarino on sports talk radio; as well as @MattDorsey and @ScottReagor on SportsRadio 1110 on ESPNU. He is also a columnist for ESPN.com and the editor of the "John" series of books on sports.
There's no doubt that Johnstone will remain a popular, respected, and well-respected pundit for ESPN, and he will continue to be that way for years to come. But you cannot discount the potential dangers of doing so.
One of my personal favorite quotes from this interview comes at the 46-minute mark. "What would the NBA do in this situation, what would any team do with this situation? That's a tough one." As a longtime NBA executive, Johnstone could have easily answered this with "You can't trust a team to protect players." It's pretty clear this is what he meant by "dangers."
Johnson did not need the conversation to clear up one of the biggest questions I have about the league's handling of this: how did the league get this far in protecting stars in this manner?
It's difficult to imagine LeBron James in such a situation for a short amount of time. If we think about his long and distinguished career that stretches from college to the NBA, James has played his way into Hall of Fame status, in part thanks to some really terrible and flawed trade and trade rumors that were circulating before the trade was completed.
The one time LeBron was really protected, LeBron's future was in question. The NBA tried to get a deal done after it became known his contract was up in 2017, but the deal turned out to be a farce that didn't deliver anything (I didn't write that). That's why James has never gotten a guaranteed contract extension in the past two years, even though the team made several significant trades during those 2 years.
So, why did it take this long?
I don't know, but I think it was the wrong move by the league.
The league is a notoriously dysfunctional organization and I just don't buy what the league's leadership is telling the American public. The reason why LeBron James became a superstar for the league is that it is a highly organized and highly competitive league, which means a high risk, high reward system is put in place for the league's executives. The league likes winning, but its players are very competitive and risk is an important part of that, and a team should always want to win.
That's why the entire wa

Boeing, SpaceX, Hughes
(Reuters) - Boeing Co was the biggest winner in the U.S. oil-drilling lease auction today, acquiring a $3.6 billion deal for the construction of a new pipeline from Alaska's North Slope to the Gulf Coast and Louisiana's Gulf Coast refineries to help move crude from the Middle East to the world market.
Boeing and SpaceX had won $3.5 billion apiece, for the same deal. That represented the biggest premium to bid on any single deal in at least the last four years.
The two companies could soon have their own energy futures contracts and could be joined by Texas-based Dominion Resources Inc, one of the first big acquisitions of oil majors today.
"Boeing was the largest win. I don't think you can say this is a surprise," said Brian McGehee, executive director of the American Petroleum Institute Energy Strategy Group.
Boeing, which was formed in 1998, had about $3.1 billion of the estimated $5.6 billion in potential sales value from the oil rig leases that will be up for grabs to be awarded over the next several years in Oklahoma, South Dakota, North Dakota, South Texas, Nebraska, Montana and Wyoming.
Boeing's shares rose 7.1 percent to $69.98 after the deal was closed. They've gained about 8 percent in 2016 as oil prices tumbled amid a slowdown in drilling activity in North Dakota, OPEC and Saudi Arabia. They were up 12 percent during 2015 before the OPEC production cuts.
For its part, Exxon Mobil Corp has been expanding its energy activities in Europe and Africa, which have a huge market for the company's oilsands crude. "Exxon Mobil is the third largest oil trader in the world with the largest share in crude export markets," said James Kincaid, founder and former head of Westcor Energy, the oil industry's second-largest producer, for the company, based in Denver.
With a $2.1 billion potential sale of the LNG terminals in Southern Europe, and a $700 million deal in the Middle East to ship the country's crude to the United States, the three deals could lead to some of the largest international deals of 2016.
"This is an important step in continuing the transition to low

First of all I want to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question which I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts before writing. I've had a difficult time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out. I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints?
